    Hey everyone,

I was wondering if it is possible to reinstall windows 7 on ASUS notebooks from a normal full version DVD, BUT use the key that comes with the notebook. Does anyone know anything about it?

The versions are both the same (64 bit home editions).

I believe you can, but you have to make a phone call to activate.

Key codes aren't specific to particular installation discs so as long as its the same version of Windows 7 you can use that keycode from the bottom of your computer. As Namaiki mentioned you do have to call the activation phone number if you have already activated the keycode once. Windows will tell you if you need to do this once to enter in the keycode after your install. Its a pretty simple process though and takes under 5 minutes for the phone call.

Yes as long as it's the same edition.

It won't accept the key and it won't let you activate it. You have to install the version that matches your key.
