well, i've finally come to ends with this problem. its been happening for some time now and i've had enough of it.

at home i have sbc dsl and i have the old S5 ULV using the 802.11b card that came with it, so no 802.11g.

problem is that when i'm getting a decent speed downloading some files, the connection seems to stall, i still see a strong signal, but there is no activity.........i know its connected, but its stalled to a stand still. i originally thought it might be my router or dsl, but when i take it to the local university library, it does the same thing. downloading at a good speed then stalls......[ :(]

i tried updating the intel proset drivers, still doing the same thing....

anyone having similar problems? whats left that i can do, its more annoying than anything else.

Your school may honestly have the same problem..... but you want to test out your own router becasue you can't really do anything about your school........ but it's most likely a problem on that side.

    Thanks,

try using a wired network connection and see if it happens over that.

    Something is giving it interferance.

Keep in mind that coreless phones and microwaves uses similar wave lenght, thus will cause problem to your wifi.

My panasonic phone does it to my network each time the phone ring or I am on a call. I have to switch to a different channel to lessen the problem.

smilepak, i think your right about the whole interference being the culprit....some days i have no problem at all, other times it would stall every chance it gets.....like today, no is home and i'm downloading at maximum with no stalling.

so if i can just get everyone not to come home use all their wireless gadgets.....hehehe [ :)]
