Okay, so my father brought his laptop over from asia and it is all in chinese and i cant read it well enough to know whats going on.
but still, shouldnt it automatically detect a wireless connection if there is one? (like in our house) but for some reason, no matter what i do, i cant get the wireless to activate.
it says it has a wireless ieee 802.11a/b/g chip built in, but like i know what that meansI am no expert on networking, but i doubt that laptop needs a wireless card since it is fairly new.
so can anyone help me out? I have no idea why it wont work.

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
No, I think you have to go into the wireless networking section and then click through the windows to first search for available networks and then configure the connection. Or use Intel ProSet Wireless if it is on the system (but I'm not familiar with your father's model to know that), but in PSW you still have to go through a few steps to configure, connect, and then set it up as the default/automatic connection; it won't simply connect all by itself the first time in a new environment.
If you're using the Chinese version of xp or vista, it's possible that the windows and button layouts may very well be different from the English version too, so even having one of those to go through side-by-side concurrent steps might not work. Unless, your father can sit there with you and tell you what the screen windows say.
Perhaps it's better to have him just use another notebook/desktop in the house.
