Hi all,
I am having issue with my wireless.
The wireless work fine when i turn on my computer, but after i search on the internet for about 2 minutes it stopped working. It is wierd because the icon on the bottom right appears yellow which means there are service around the area. However when I go to the console to select the a network there is nothing there. On top the console said that I have turned off the wireless. However the tab showed that the wireless is on. When I hit the tap it does not turn off the wireless. I also tried to reclick to turn on the wireless but it does not work. I closed the console and tried to right click on the icon at the bottom right to turn on or off the wireless and it still does not work. it seem like it just stalled. I also notice my bluetooth LED is lit on the right hand side of the labtop. I don't know if there is an interference between the wireless and bluetooth. The only way to have the wireless working again is the shut off my laptop. I tried to uninstall bluetooth software but that did not help. I am not sure what is going on. I think it might be the driver on the disk that asus provided. I might have to get a new driver. Do you think that the wireless card is over heating.
Thanks,
Loc

I have been having exactly the same problems as you word for word. Quick question though, have you had any problems with Hcontrol.exe encountering a problem and needing to close right when you boot up? See i was having this problem and couldn't figure out why so i did a system restore to a week earlier and it fixed the problem. But now about two weeks later I am having the problem like you described where all of a sudden i can't load up a webpage even though it says that i have service. Then when i open the intel wireless console, it says that wireless has been turned off and the icon on the quick launch tab seems to be frozen or won't let me right click on it. There has also been times when the whole toolbar at the bottom of my screen has been locked up or frozen and won't let me access my start menu or any of the icons. I did another system restore back to that same point and day BEFORE my first restore so now i have that Hcontrol.exe probelm where my Fn keys won't work. Really really frustrating. I've tried removing my ATK0010 driver that came with my Z96 utility driver cd and reinstalling it but all that does is make the Hcontrol.exe error go away but my keys still do not work.
Are you letting Windows manage your wireless or Intel?
I'm using Intel and so far for about 6 hours i have not had the wireless problem like you described.
Please let me know if you find a solution or find more information about this problem.
Thanks

Try the latest ATK0100 driver(.58) and see if that fixes your issue. If not, try the latest Intel driver also, which can be downloaded from intel's website,

I'd refrain from using the latest Intel PROset drivers on the Intel website if I were you guys. Usually, each new release of ATK0100 is specifically designated for a certain version of PROset. (Of course, the newer ATK0100 versions are backwards compatible with older versions of PROset)
First, uninstall both PROSet and ATK0100. Then, go to Asus's website.
Look for the newest version of ATK0100 on the Z96/S96 download page on Asus's website, and then download the latest version of PROset on Asus's site as well. Install PROset first, and then ATK0100.
See if that works... -
Actually, I have used the latest Intel(10.5.1.68) & ATK0100 drivers(.58) since day 1 and have NEVER had any problems and I've reformatted a couple of times also and no issues ever. But then again, I don't use Intel's wireless software, so
I've even use the .58 driver in Vista with no problems since it's newer than the one found in Windows Update,
