I'm pretty much set on either of these but have trouble picking between them. On one hand the 62f is dual core, but the 63 looks so much better. THe one important question i have is the durability factor based on the material differences between the 63 and the 62. Can someone help me out here?

945GM/dual core on one CPU w/2M cache...

the other guy has 915 chipset and PM 1.70?

If your "friend" will do "it" for just you; go for the better system...If your friend will just do it for the case...

hey, you decide...I'd go for the system...but I've seen the peeps you date...

    ...Just kidding of course...nah!

Here are the stats; seems clear to me. It's no wonder you don't show pics of the peeps you date :)

At least these numbers will survive test and then re-test.

thanks, but i've seen that one, what I'm trying to find out is if the 62 is any less sturdy than the 63 because more plastic is used

Who said about more plastic being used? They are both plastic. The z63a does feel more solid but you are decidind for an older architecture. No matter what the z63a is aging and soon will be end of life while the z62f will be around for about a year. Its a solid notebook your not talking and comparing it to a 500$ dell here theres no mistaking them.

Haha, Eddie beat me to it again, he is right. We're not comparing a Dell to an Asus here, we are comparing two Asus systems.

The Asus Z63A is so dang solid it's unbelieveable. Slightly overexaggerated, but seriously solid.

The new one I have no clue, but it cannot be too far off. My friend bought an Asus something or other the one with a camera built in 15.4" and it's not a top end Asus, it's a lower end one and it's great~!

I say go for whichever you think you want more. More processing power or looks and build.

    Cheers,
    Mike

jterp, also you could consider the A6jc if you want a better video card, it's my first choice right now but I'm only unsure about the weight and looks and maybe video card of it. i wonder what you guys think of these pictures of it: http://www.proportable.com/detail.aspx?ID=177

    is 6.27lbs a good weight?

what about the gf go 7300? I know it's kind of the low end model... but how is it really? thanks

No brushed aluminum on the 63 -- it has carbon fiber, and it's very solid.

I've got a little bit of a different take on this.
Do you think you will notice the difference in performance between the two?
If so, by all means go with the new one. If not, then the z63a has a lot going for it. It has proven to be one of the most reliable machines out there, it is stunning, and it can be configured to be plenty powerful for most people. I've got one, and am extremely pleased with it, and am not wishing I waited for the z62.

ok i see now, its just the touchpad, so i guess its comparing the carbon fiber vs the plastic. Something else that I just thought about today is how either would fare with windows vista, does anyone know if the integrated intel chip will run it?

    I'd choose the Z63A because:
    1) I have one and it rocks
    2) It still comes with a carry bag and wireless mouse
    3) Its hinge design is superior
    4) It's based on the W3A ... which is an Ensemble system (meaning it's good quality!)
    5) It looks better.

i'd personally take the 62f because of higher performance and lower heat, but i'm a form over function guy.

only thing i like better on the 63a is the modular bay.

z62f isnt as snappy looking but it is far superior in performance, battrery life and does also come with a bag. Yes it lacks some of the snappy features but lets face it how many of use actually use the modular bay and audio dj?

Beware of the Z62f if you don't like big battery that stands out from the back... A lot of pictures from the web got photoshop manipulated to cut this thing.

The battery that sticks out is the 9-cell option... with 4 hours from the 6-cell, I don't think many people will opt for the bigger one that sticks out the back :p

There will be no option for the 9 cel for this. The base 6 cel does not stick out from the back. So no need to beware of that :)
