I just enabled my boot bios password (see my other thread)
How secure does this make my laptop at this point; are there backdoors, standard passwords, key bypasses, etc?
Can someone simply open the case and pull the CMOS battery like on desktops?
You could always pull the harddrive out to get to it, but up to that point, am I okay?
With the BIOS password, I'm more interested in bricking the laptop in case of theft over protecting my data.
Thanks

A friend of mine put a password on his harddrive controller board, but I don't have the first clue how to do that. Could be something for you to look into. Basically, the only way to get data off his hdd in the event of theft, would be to physically put the plates in another, identical harddrive.

BIOS password doesn't let people to change the BIOS setting, it doesn't help for physical hardware security. Once a person want to take out a part, it will be easy to take it out such as hard drive, memory, cpu....

yes, i know someone could take it apart. but as a whole, its not useful
