hey guys, i recently downloaded firefox for my laptop and when i press the internet button next to the power button it says "cant get environment variable". im guessing this is because internet explorer is the default. How can i change it so that when i press the button firefox comes up?

Get a newer ATK0100 driver.

Mine works fine, so it can be done. Did you check the settings in Firefox to make sure it's the default browser? You'll find that under Tools-Options-General. Once it's your default browser, you may need to bring up Firefox once by clicking on it's icon rather than trying the QuickLaunch button. And, you may need to reboot. If none of that works, then you could reinstall the drivers for the QuickLaunch buttons. Also, you may have to be an administrator to get it configured properly.
Sorry for the randomness of this answer, but I think all the info is probably there. Good luck! Mine works fine, so it can be done.

Yeah I was wondering about these quick launch buttons as well...my internet shortcut button works fine, but my Wireless shortcut button works once in a while, or it only turns it off and doesn't turn it back on.
Yes I've tried reinstalling the ATK drivers, but it doesn't work.
Help? -
I had the same problem, and installing the latest ATK0100 ACPI Utility solved it. You can download it from support.asus.com. You should probably uninstall the current utility via the Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs) before installing the new version. While, theoretically, that shouldn't be necessary, it's a good practice to follow just in case the new version doesn't get rid of everything from the old version. Then, reboot and see if it works.

I've tried that and it just doesn't work...well all the buttons work except the wireless button...sometimes it works and turns the wireless ON and OFF, while other times it will only turn it OFF, but won't turn it ON, and other times it just doesn't work at all.
Weird,
