Just a quick question is the lcd lid on the z70v metal or plasitic?

Carbon (which is a form of plastic). No brushed aluminum on this bad boy.

CFEP (Carbon Fiber-Embedded Plastic). It's carbon fiber filler in an ABS plastic peice. it most notably lightens the weight by allowing for thinner pieces (about 1/32" thick) which cuts down on system weight, thickness and yet retains more structural stability than just plain thicker plastic or even aluminum or magnesium.
But at no time in the last year and a half has the M6 series had any time of metal lid (no where in the world or on any model) -
What i mean was if it was changed to metal since some of the cases can crack. and has anyone here had it happen.

No, I've only actually seen one case of cracking and it was on about a year old system. Here's the set up...... on the widescreen model like the new Z70's are..... the hinge is a bit longer due to the placement of the speakers under the screen. Over time the screws can all loosen a bit and if they aren't kept tight, you can start to put too much force on the lid basically the screws can pull through the front bezel or crack the lid. This is a preventative maintenance type of thing that you could notice if the screws to loosen. It's those people who don't do anything to take care of it that end up with problems. It's very uncommon, but the reasoning for it is common to every notebook on earth. That hinge just puts that much more added force one the lid when they loosen up. Frankly metal wouldn't do much better.... in this situation it would crease and certainly more easily than even the CFEP lid.
