i'm getting this barely audible high pitched noise when i run the laptop on batteries. it appears to be coming from the speakers.

when the laptop is plugged in, it does not make this sound. also, the sound becomes more like beeps along with the hard drive when the hard drive begins to run.

    anyone ever experience this before?

hamboi, don't worry too much about it, seems normal.

If you start to notice your laptop getting all weird on you, and by weird I mean abrupt shutdowns or slowdowns or something of the sort then get worried, but from what you described everything is normal.

If you have your laptop undervolted, you might want to raise the voltage a bit. If it's not undervolted, don't worry about it.

    Cheers,
    Mike

well i did not overclock or undervolt my laptop.

the noise is very annoying though. when i'm in my quiet room studying with the laptop on, you can hear the buzzing/high pitched noise since it is louder than the fans.

it does not happen when plugged in so there must be some way to fix it when it is running on batteries.

it seems when i turn the power options in control panel to "max battery" the sound is reduced significantly, however, the noise is still there.

anyone know of a real fix?
