    Hey all,

I'm a new owner of a z70va, and am very happy. I have questions regarding the second HDD in the optical bay.

I've got a CD/DVD combo that works fine. When I replace the CD/DVD with the 2nd hdd, I can't see the drive in Windows Explorer, although I can see that I have 2 HDD's in the device manager.

I've can see from the device manager that the primary drive is at location 0 and the 2nd drive is at location 1. I've set the 2nd HDD to be the slave. Also when viewing the C: properties, and selecting the hardware tab, I see both drives in that window. seems strange to me, but I've never had a second drive in a laptop, is the second a redundant drive?

    What am I missing here?

    thanks in advance,

    kevin

Your drive needs to be mounted and formated.

Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Computer Management >> Storage >> Disk Management...

Once there, right click on new drive, mount and then format.

    Enjoy. :)
