Hey! Does anyone know how to get to the fan that's on the upper left corner of the z70va? I've been trying to get to it since this particular fan always seems to be on, and has a sort of loud annoying whine to it. I figure it either needs to be cleaned out or replaced... but.. I can't get to it. As in, I don't know how to get to it.

I have directions I printed out for disassembling this particular laptop but they don't actually show how to get to this fan. I've taken the keyboard off but after that I just don't know where to go. I'm stumped. I don't want to take things apart that I don't need to. (Arg, what I break it? I'm out of warranty now so..!)

    Thanks for your time :)

Who ever designed the z70va hates me don't they? Ugh. I was hoping to avoid having to remove the motherboard.... Would it have killed them to add an extra compartment that could be easily unscrewed at the bottom? Seriously, they did it for the CPU! *shakes fists at them*

Thank you for your response though! It might be a while till I get to cleaning this fan. It was scary just getting the keyboard off....

    Heh...good luck.

I tried this a few months back, after my GPU fan basically died (doesn't work at all any more)

I was almost there...but one of the screws near the end of the line was stripped (don't ask me how...I just know it wasn't me, it was stripped before I even touched it), and all was for naught.

Really poor design by Asus, This notebook has served me well, except for that fan. Almost time to get a new one anyway...

It can be scary when you disassemble for the first time, but I'd suggest to try it anyway... it looks like your fan(s)+heatsink(s) are caked with dust, can't effectively cool down the laptop, and then run all the time.

If the disassembly guide above doesn't correspond 100% to your laptop, use parts of the related guides listed on the Info Booth (M6A, M6N).
