I'm not sure if this is significant for any1 else but when i popped in my dvdram disc, and the combo drive read it without any problems i was very happily surprised...
Just thought i would put it out there...lol, is it standard for all combo drives to read ram discs?

Combo drives are DVD/CDRW, so I'm pretty sure it reads all DVD discs, just can't write to one.

Have you figured out how to identify the manufacturer of the drives? Some say Samsung, other Toshiba. I think they did a joint venture - would be nice to know for sure in case of firmware udates coming available.

umm...yes sir...combo drives are DVD/CDRW as coriolis hs stated...so yeup...well since it's a new discovery for you, ain't it cool? I love it when I find out that I could do something with something I have that I didn't know I could...
Just like when I upgraded the firmware on my DVD drive for my desktop it finally could read some different format dvds...this drive was donated to me from my cousin ashe bought a new one b/c it didn't read 'em all hehe

Mike
