Just recently, my gf (the main user of the laptop) told me that the laptop freeze everytime it enter the power saving mode (screen goes off after not being use for a while). This wasn't a problem until recently, and i don't recall installing any new programs. The wifi was on and i was using window to control wifi (usually i use intel software). I haven't really look into it but i just want to know if anyone else has this problem.

It never did this before till about two weeks ago.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hrmm, very strange man, very.

Maybe some files got too fragmented and registry got screwed somehow.

I hate how these random problems arise, but computers are complex systems and complex systems have problems that arise out of nowhere.

power saving mode being sleep state? or when unplugging the power cord?

Worst case it could be a bad heatsink installation and the thermal compound is just NOW giving in. I doubt it though.

Maybe some driver installation got messed up somehow? Windows auto update?

To me it sounds like an XP problem, does the problem occur when you do a full reboot or complete turn off then on??? If not then, its likely that the computer is just having trouble coming out of sleep mode....a very well documented bug in xp.
    a :)

Yeah sleep mode is so buggy I don't even use any of those functions.

I just turn my baby off if I'm not using her or am about to transport her.

Well, the system wasn't plug in when it happen. I left the computer on my desk, walk away for 30 second. When i got back, the screen was off (power saving) and when i try to wake it (press the famous anykey) it doesn't wake back up. I also believe that it's the window that's causing problem. I'll try to clean the registry and check the HDD when my gf bring it over tomorrow.

Thank you all for the input so far

No probs aphirat. To awaken from sleep mode I just press the FN key once. I remember trying other buttons and it didn't work, but the FN key worked. Maybe that's just an isolated case, I dunno.
