remove the rubber stoppers from the bottom two screw holes on the screen..... tighten those up...... The hinges themselves honestly don't loosen up, but the screws could... if you let it go, the force of opening and closing the screen starts to put more and more stress on the lid itself and we've heard of cracking in some rare cases. If that doesn't help, remove those two screws and pry up the front bezel and tighten the screws under it.

OK, so I don't understand what you just said....... "but its they are still loose". I can normally figure out what people are saying, but are the screws still loose or are the hinges, as you put them?

Were you able to remove the rubber stoppers and tighten the screws at all?

Did you remove those two screws and pry up the front bezel and tighten the screws under it?

Hate to tell you this cotolay, but you are being picky.

I know exactly what you mean by it not being solid. The M6 chassis didn't have the most solid hinge, but it's not by any means wobbly either.

It's not going to stay still while on your lap or any other surface that isn't level and stable.

Yeah there are some lesser laptops out there with stronger hinges, but they don't amount to what the M6 chassis is all about.

That little wobble you're experiencing is normal. Just be cautious when opening it up and closing it. Wear and tear can make it wobblier, if that's a word. :)

    Cheers,
    Mike

Edit:: Oh yeah and they call me "The Picky One" here on notebookreview.com :D ... Okay, they don't, but I am known to be picky, so take my word for it when I tell you that the wobble you are experiencing is normal. :)

.. yeah, I'm not sure you listened to me and tightened up everything...... if you're saying it doesn't hold well to the base, that's not the hinge exactly... I mean, try tightening all screws in the rear on the bottom chassis....

I honestly don't think he's being picky here.... I understand this one and know what he's talking about and know it's not supposed to be like that...... and trust me, you should know that I can certainly be the first to call someone on being picky or being ridiculous.

    ^^

    Of course :)

If you're up for it, maybe even take the screen off and put it back on.

I noticed that after I got my notebook back it wasn't closing properly with my ShaggyMac in place, when before that it closed with no problems.

I'm going to work on it when I get the time.

Oh yeah if you haven't gotten yourself a shaggymac yet, GO GET ONE~!

    I can't live without mine now. :)

The two screws under the hinge cover gets loose on my Z70Va and the whole screen gets more wobbly. I have to periodically pry the covers off and tighten them.

Remove all the rubber stoppers. Remove the 4 screws. You have to pry the cover off. Start from the top and gently proceed to the bottom. Dont worry you can pull you cant reall break it except the side parts where you should be extra careful. On the inside you will find 2 more screws on the hinges. Examine it after you screw those in. It is possible that the lid need to be replaced if they are still wobbly. I am not too sure if you have a problem or not. As shampoo said the screen has to have wobble. There is a diff between normal wobble and that caused by use and wear. I cant tell what you have.

Lol shampoo i am not being picky at all. It's big wobble here. I remember when i first got it it wasn't wobbly at all. I really dont mind, but i am affraid that in some time the hinges will just crack or something.

THE HINGES WILL NOT CRACK..... THE HINGES WILL NOT WEAR OUT.

In some cases, tightening will not be enough if physically you can't tighten them down without them spinning...... but the problem is not the hinges, but where they attach and an issue you may be having there..... I'm just telling you that because that's where you should focus your energy instead of continuly ignoring what I'm saying and saying HINGES..... it's SCREWS and where those attach. The wooble, if for any reason it's connected to the hinge getting screwed up, it would have gotten screwed up from the screws being loose.... but that's still far fetched.
