i got my z70va screen replaced by c9tech due to red ghosting, but the screen that i recently received does not seem as bright as before. the screen seems to be darker than my desktop LCD, which is saying a lot.

i was just wondering if anyone knows how to make it brighter. thanks!

You cant make it brighter. and 95% of all desktop LCDS are brighter than notebooks. The average notebook is 200nits or less of brightness the average lcd is about 270nits or above these days.

... well the obvious would be to use the FN keys to make it brighter....... I'm going to assume you would have already tried this though and if you have..... something's up because the panels should all be so close that you couldn't really tell a difference.

when i used to compare my brightness to my desktop lcd, it was very noticeable. my desktop lcd is not bright at all and my laptop used to be able to burn my eyes (not really) because of brightness.

when i compared my replacement screen today, it is evident that the screen is noticeably darker than my desktop.

Very strange hamboi. That stinks because my replacement screen is actually much better than my previous one.

Maybe try reloading bios? I don't know.

This stinks. Maybe check your Color settings in your Ati properties?

    Cheers,
    Mike

hamboi, make sure you see at the top left the brightness is all the way up when pressing fn+f6 . also, as shampoo said, check the color settings in ati properties. it's conceivable that in the replacement of the screen the florescent got damaged or broken.. justin, any idea how many are in the screen? i think there's usually 2. but if one is out, it would be very noticeable that the screen isn't evenly illuminated.

Maybe there's a chance that since you've had your screen replaced you have added lights to your room? I don't know, just a shot in the dark.

I just noticed today that my screen looks pretty dim in my school's new library that is brightly illuminated. Not too dim to the point where it looks like it's a piece of trash, but just not as bright as in my room.

Just a shot in the dark :)

    Cheers,
    Mike

hi guys, thanks for all the response.

i have already maxed out the FN+F6 function and i even adjusted brightness in the ati color properties. the end result is still the same. if i use the color properties to make it brighter, the colors just seem to turn washed out instead of actually getting brighter.

Sasha from c9tech said that something might've happened during shipping, but he's still looking into it.

i mean the screen is so ugly looking right now that i don't even feel like using it. when i play games like WoW, the dark areas are so hard to see, and when i turn up the brightness in-game the colors begin to look too irregular.

anyways i hoping it is just another LCD problem so it can get replaced... again :p

oh just to add on, the laptop was used in my room which is only lit by a lamp on my desk. so i would say that it is not a brightly lit room at all.
