I recently purchased a z70va barebone and is installed with:
    2.0ghz pentium m 533mhz fsb
    2x 1gb Transcend pc4200 ddr2
    80gb 7200rpm hitachi hd
    intel wireless mini pci module

There are 4 speakers on the z70va. The bottom or lower right speaker does not output any sounds...the other three works fine. When I stick in my headset in the S/PDIF socket, sound is only heard on the left earbud, and not the right. I've downloaded the newest drivers, Realtek High Definition r1.27 but it made no difference.

Is anyone else in this forum experiencing the same problem? All help is appreciated...thanks.

There isn't much in there to configure...doesn't have any options as to enable/disable speakers. I tried the 3d sound test, and 3 out of the 4 speakers work- bottom right still not ringing. =(

That sounds like a hardware issue and connection issue...dont think thats software. Think about using the warranty and call the nearest Asus ... http://support.asus.com/service/service.aspx?no=113&SLanguage=en-us , or try to see if you open up your panels and see if there is any bad connections or welding by the actual hardware...Doing that may void warrantees. Hmm, I might be experiencing same thing too.. If you dont plug your headphones all the way it will work as stereo. Try that it worked for me. As far as 3 out of 4 speakers working how can u really tell? I am thinking my left side is alittle weaker than my right. To correct that minor problem open up your Sound Effect manager lower right Icon. Use Speaker Volume under the Volume tab....There you can seperate your sounds of left side volume and right side volume. Since my right side is stronger in sounds...I've adjusted 1 1/2 volume knotch left speakers to 1 knotch right speakers, then click Move all slide indicators at the same time (Apply changes and Okay to save) = Perfect sounding speakers or hehehe balanced for my case. Lemme know if this helped you out okay?

Yeah, I'm suspecting that it's hardware issues, too. I can tell the 3/4 speakers because when I turn the sound to very low, i hear nothing from the bottom right speaker. You're right about not plugging the earphones in all the way, but that's just duplicating the left speaker sounds and hearing it from both earbuds. (Figured that out from panning the sound to right, and resulted in dead silence.) The nearest ASUS support center...I wonder if there even is one in the NYC area. Poor me

Thanks for the help, though...one step closer to solving problem. I'm just hoping that its not the hardware...waited 2 weeks for the laptop to arrive and don't really want to send it away...X)

    edit:
And the closest ASUS would be in california...great stuff. Exactly where my barebone was shipped from.

Believe it or not....my left speakers are clearer and with more treble.....and my right has more mid bass and louder... All 4 speakers are working...so I phased the balance more to the left so it will just sound right. Problem with the input headphone jack is just between the connection of the stereo pins. I would play around with plug until u get the proper sounds....means either u got a bad headset or bad input on laptop. I would lower the bass and crank up volume to test the 4 speakers....you can cover the two front or bottom speakers up with something, then listen to see which sides work. In most cases, generic speakers wont work in unisen one or more speakers might be softer or something different about them.

    P.S- I know...I live in CA =P

No good...not 1 decibel of noise from lower right speaker. I'm thinking about calling in ASUS and using my warranty like you suggested, but do you know if they'll charge me for anything? Do I pay for shipping...I have like a negative balance in cash since my purchase lol...looking bad. Thanks again for your help.

I dont know where in NY you are located but we are in brooklyn....Speaker replacement is 50$ for non customer. If its not the speaker its most likely the audio dj in which case it is 100$. Repairs can be done on the spot if youre in on saturday otherwise on a week day you have to leave it and wait on Q, :)

If you did not buy it from us you are not our customer that means we will charge for any repairs even if it is asus. If you want help contact your dealer but i doubt your dealer if they care. Not all dealers do. Depends who you bought from. If you did buy it from us then the repair and shipping is free round trip.

Well, because I ordered it from pagecomputers.com...and since it was shipped from Florida, or California...not sure which one, I'm guessing I'd have to ship it back. Though I do have a warranty, I don't want to wait for it- especially if its going to take a long time. I want to take this lappie with me to Asia in two weeks so eh...
