    z71v hardware problems

    Having a few problems the last few days. not exactly sure how to fix them

    1. My dvd drive won't open. The last time i put a cd inside the computer halted I had to restart. Now it won't open.

    2. It overheats and either resets itself or halts.

    3. it load windows xp for about 10 min.

    I installed speed fan . please tell me if these results are normal:
    cPU: 64C
    Loca:l 54C
    Remote 2: 74C
    HD0: 48C
    Temp1: 70C


    Any help in the following problems greatly appreaciated.

    Those heat results are relatively normal. You can undervolt your Z71V, Centrinos can take quite a bit.

    I don't know about any of those issues? Have you tried pulling out the optical drive and reconnecting it? - maybe its a minor connectivity issue?
    I do know that I can't quick swap my optical drive for my modular battery anymore; whenever I do, my whole system locks up. So that might have something to do with it? If you fix your optical drive, maybe you can run a full reformat of your HD and install a new Windows?
