ok i just recieved my z71v friday and have been having a great time with it. everything runs smooth. However i need to get all the latest updates. I seen the website laptopvideo2go.com and that is just way to confusing for me. im not a computer newb so i know how to install drivers but the dates on those are from like months ago. I installed the latest one from the asus website and BF2 is telling me that that driver is out of date. Also what utility can tell me how hot my cpu is running. thanks for advice fellas

The Battlefield 2 demo has the correct video drivers attached to it. If you use them, that should take care of your problem there.

Centrino Hardware Control is a wonderful utility that tells you the temperature of your CPU and hard drive, lists your battery life, and can change your CPU voltage and throttling features. www.pbus-167.com is the website.

ASUS probe will give you cpu temps as well as your fan speed....just make sure you get the one for your notebook, the desktop version is different and wont work.
As for gpu drivers, you have 3 choices, ASUS stock ones, the most stable but older and not updated at often. The offical ATI ones but you will need to mod them, or Omega drivers.

Omega driver are on the same boat as Asus ones. They haven't been updated often.

If you want the "OFFICIAL" nvidia driver, there is a problem. Officially Nvidia will not support notebook GPU. They leave that to the notebook manufactuerers. So their driver doesn't include the key to detect the notebook GPU.

    NO FEAR!

You could still download the OFFICIAL nvidia driver from their website, however you need to use a tweaked INF file that contains the forumla for notebook GPU.

See link I had provided above for instruction.
