I have 10 more days to return it if I don't like it...being a bit of a novice i'm wondering if anyone else has experience of this laptop and what they thought. Couldn't find any reveiws.

It is a Turion64 MD30, 80GB HDD, dual dble layer dvd, 15.4 WXGA TFT LCD, 512MB RAM, card reader, lots of ports etc. Not sure if it writes dual layer or just reads - supposed to write according to tech guy.

My use is internet, word processing, preschoolers games, dvd's, storeage of my Sony MC pro pics and not much else. In some ways it is overkill for what we currently use, but chosen to replace Pentium 400 old desktop. It is more than what we currently need but allows some flexibility for next few years. Appreciate any insights anyone can offer.

all dvd drives read dual layer. so if there is mention of dual layer then it's refering to the ability to write dual layer discs as well. as for the stuff you use the laptop for: i would have gotten a centrino since it's very powerful and offers superior battery life.
