z96j fan is too loud - help

I've had my Z96J for a few years now and it has behaved pretty nicely. The one problem I've been having is with the fan and heat. It seems that even when I'm doing basic tasks and just have a few windows open my laptop seems to get very warm. The fan will spool up at full blast when I'm doing nothing more than watching a video on hulu. It wasn't anywhere near this bad when I got it. Actually, on reviews of the thing this is noted for being quiet.

I took off part of the back cover over the fan thinking maybe part of the issue was dust but it was actually surprisingly clean. Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be or things I can check?

 

Try to blow some air from a compressed air can onto the radiator, it could be dusty there.
If u dont have warranty and you fell confident, you can try to change the thermal paste as well.

 

I might just try that since I think I've got some of that paste somewhere but I just have a feeling it won't be enough. My laptop gets really hot. Any more ideas of how I can cool this thing down?

 

Did you ever get this resolved? My z96j is driving me up the wall. I've even had people on the phone ask me what the noise is (and it's just sitting on the desk in the same room, with nothing running).
