A war is on between z96j and z61m

I can get the z61m for 1720+tax, config:
    Lenovo - IBM ThinkPad Z61m - 15.4-inch - 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo
Intel Core Duo 2.0 GHz (T2500), 512MB RAM, 80GB HD, 15.4" WSXGA+ display, DVD +/- RW, Fingerprint Reader, Gigabit Ethernet, 11a/b/g Wi-Fi, XP Pro, 3Yr-Depot Warranty.

    Its the same as:

    9453E8U

Or the Z96j with more ram etc

Which one would you guys recommend ? Z96j gives more computing power, but then its up against a thinkpad :)

I think the Z61m has a more powerful graphics unit so if ur planning 2 play any games, I advise u 2 get the Z61m.

The Z96J has a more powerfull GPU namely the x1600, the Z61m has a x1400 or x1300 in it by the looks of it.

So I'd go with the Z96J, especialy because it has got more ram. A dealbreaker could be that you want a higher resolution then 1280x800 then I'd go with the Z61M which has a 1680 x 1050 resolution.

    The z96j has 1680x1050 resolution

I am SO vacillating right now, yesterday I was 99% z96j, an hour ago I was 90% IBM, now 50-50

Go with the Z96J if games are a priority. Otherwise Thinkpad all the way.

i'd go with the z96j unless you absolutely must have their keyboard (admittably the best)..their displays tend to be a bit washed out with the exception of their flexviews..and the x1600 is much better for games than the x1400 in the z61m..the z96j will also be spec'd out better for the same price

Either way you're gonna be happy wearetheborg. IBM and ASUS are the cream of the crop when it comes to PC notebook manufacturing. I'd probably also lean towards the z96j though because of the graphics combo of a better screen plus the powerful x1600.

As many people have mentioned go with the Z96j, i would also agree to it.

Also the Z96j is cheaper, it depends on your configuration, you really need more ram, use should have at least 1GB DDR2 @667mhz.

The Thinkpad is nice, but that GPU just dissapoints the whole meaning of a 15.4" gaming machine.

The X1600 is 2 times more powerfull, and since many like to game, and want cheaper systems, i think the option is quite clear.

    Thanks,
