    i prefer the x1.
    has a better processor.
x5 has a 9 cell battery though if you need that. and this makes a difference to some people so ill mention that the 9 cell battery sticks out the back a bit.

ok a couple more things and im done. First: Is the outlet deal at bestbuy the best bang for the buck and are they refurbed or new?. Second: should i wait a lil while and see if the same deal or higher deal for a better asus(basically should i jump on this deal). Third: the warranty how long can i wait before i put an extended warr. on the machine because you only get a year from bestbuy and do i get it through asus or bestbuy. Fourth: Thanks for being patient and for the help. This laptop seems to be in my price range but i dont want to get it if a better deal comes along soon. I've done research but i dont know where to look like you smart guys

Prices will always continue to drop. If you can wait then you of course can always wait.

Best Buy stores are quickly selling off their inventory of the x1. There will be more x5's then x1s available. When I ordered my x1 a few days ago I was told they were selling out fast.

For me it is a good buy

I bought it few days back and waiting for it to be shipped.

It really depends on your needs.

Do you need the longer battery life and you don't care about the battery sticking out at the back ? Go with the X5

Do you want the 0.13GHz increase in processor speed? Go with the X1

Which one you like more in terms of the colour and design?

I liked the colour of the X1 much more than the X5 although I have not seen it in person.

And also the X1 have $100 discount.

It is in the outlet and is finishing fast so hurry if you need it.

Also someone here said that there is a new G50vt names the G50vt-X9.

He said that he have been told by a reseller. This is the thread

    Nothing guaranteed till now

I would suggest you to go with the X1 :D

For external styling, I prefer the X5, the black/silver two tone kinda bugged me. As far as performance goes, these guys have steered you right so far. X1, slightly better CPD vs X5, larger battery. The X1 is also $100 off via the outlet, so you will get it for $949 instead of $1049, making it slightly cheaper than the X5.

In the end, I wouldn't call either one BETTER, just different. Asking which is better in this case is like asking a crowd which is better - vanilla or chocolate ice cream. My personal pick, if they were price matched EXACTLY, would be the X5, but right now I would just save a little cash and go with the X1.

I think the X1 is better overall, mostly because the X5 is butt-ugly and there's no reason ASUS couldn't have invested in producing a 9-cell battery that actually fit.
