Dell quoted me $440 for to extend my warr 4 years. Is this a deal or a rip off??

Any ideas to get a good price?
    thanks

a 4 year warranty isn't worth ANY money. Use that money in 2 years to get a new laptop.

a 4 yr warranty that is less than 20% of your laptop's cost would be good.... (eg under $200 for an extra 4 years)

otherwise, just save it and use it to buy a much bette rlaptop in 4 years

what the hell, that is a total rip off.

Dell UK sold me 3 extra years on top of my 1 year warranty for 79£.

also depends on the service you got

Complete care(usually NBD + accidental damge), NBD(next business day), ship-to-depot

most non-US consumers get ship-to-depot.... im in usa, got NBD+complete care 4 yrs, the specs below for $1300USD ... 917 pounds though...

If complete care for M1730, I think it's well worth it considering initial price of the laptop was over 3k.

No offence to Sir Punk, but I guess he never bought a laptop that's over few K's.

Anyways, it's worth it to get Dell's warranty. AW is a different story however.

achilles, no matter how good a laptop that you buy today can be, it will already be obsolete in less than 2 years.

When someone asks me about extended warranty, I suggest getting at most 2 years, unless that model already comes with a standard 3-year warranty.
In fact I bought a Dell because they were giving a 3 year warranty, instead of sony that gives 1-year.

Regardless If its obsolete in 2 years, I still need a working computer for school and work...

My computer is a cert refurb and only has 280 days left on the warranty. I think I'll keep shopping for a better price but I will get at least 2 years. Maybe 4 since the more further out you go, the cheaper it gets per year.

if it includes complete care for 440 i say yes its good, as if it gets broken and they no longer have parts you get a new laptop.

440 instead of say 3-4k for a new gaming laptop.

    doesnt take rocket science

im not in anyway saying this should be done, but if a computer near the end of its 4 yr warranty with complete care accidentally breaks, normally dell will send out a better computer to replace it.....just saying...

see what 2 or 3 year complete care is. you never know when you might get owned by a 10 year old online and you get mad and throw your pc through the window

Well i just called, i currently have warrenty till november this year...its 95 bucks for accidental and the stoped when your warrenty does. So for me to add on 3 years with accidental it was going to be 345 plus a 75 gift card to dell....

I would call them and ask them about pricing...and when you say well i will think about it...she will say well if you buy it today i will offer a discount and the giftcard.
