    Hi Risco,

The Dell XPS™ L501X can support up to 8GB memory only. (DDR3 1333 MHz/Two 4GB modules in both slots)

The XPS™ L502X also supports 8GB memory only. Please be assured about it.

The difference between L501x and L502x is the Intel chipset and the Nvidia graphic options that are available. Also the wireless card options are different in L501x and L502x. Please let me know if you are looking for any specific information about the system hardware. Simply put XPS L502x has more options to customize as it was launched after the XPS L501x. Thanks for your help. Another question:

My battery light suddenly started flashing orange then white while plugged in and 100% charged, but performance has not decreased.

    Battery failure?

    Hi Hosfer,

    Thank you for the reply.

If the battery light indicates solid Orange it means it is either in On/Stand by mode. Flashing Orange indicates the battery is not getting charged and make sure the ac adapter is properly plugged in. Solid white indicates the battery is charging.

When you connect the computer to an electrical outlet or install a battery while the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, it checks the battery charge and temperature. If necessary, the AC adapter then charges the battery and maintains the battery charge.

The battery operating time is largely determined by the number of times it is charged. After hundreds of charge and discharge cycles, batteries lose some charge capacity (battery health). That is, a battery can show a charged status but maintain a reduced charge capacity.

If the issue persists, please try these steps:

Release the flea power: Shutdown the system. Remove the battery and unplug the adapter. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. That will discharge the residual electricity from the system board. Then insert the battery and connect the ac adapter.

Please check the battery status in the Battery Health Meter in Power Options. Check if the adapter and battery status in the BIOS set up. (To enter BIOS setup, hit the F2 key on the Dell logo screen)

In BIOS setup, Check if the adapter shows 90w/130w or listed as 'Unknown Device or Adapter type not determined'.

Update the BIOS to the latest version by using this link:

If the above mentioned steps does not resolve, please check if the battery is within the 1 year warranty period. Battery has a warranty of 1 year only from the invoice date.

    Kindly reply with the results.

    Thanks & Regards
