I'm looking to get a XPS for university but I don't need it until October. I was wondering when would be the best time to buy (in the UK). I was thinking about waiting until late August but now I'm not that sure.
There's the 7% sale at the moment. But, apparently, this happens every few months. Is that right? Also, does Dell do a Back-to-School sale (apart from the student discount)?
Thanks in advance for the help!

There are two rules I follow when asked when is the best time to buy computer hardware:
1) It is always better to wait, if you can. Generally, computer hardware gets better / faster / cheaper if you wait.
2). When you can't afford to wait anymore, that's when you buy.
That's it.
If you want / need a laptop today, then buy today. If you don't need a laptop today, then don't buy today. Prices are not going to fluctuate so dramatically over the next few months as to make a difference.

By the way, is the 7% sale repeated throughout the year? If it were you, when would you buy? I got the sense that XPS prices stayed pretty much constant. But, you have a lot more experience with this than me. Thanks again! -
