I'm sorry I asked about this. I read from some thread but I can not find the solutions.

I use studio XPS 1340 with specifications:

Intel Core 2 Duo processor P8600
    4gb ddr 3
    320 gb hardrive
    NVidia GeForce 9400 M graphics
    wireless and bluetooth mini 1515

I've upgraded from windows vista to windows 7 ultimate

but hang / lock ups occur more often when I'm in windows 7

I had to upgrade to bios A11 and then lock up the place never before (in windows vista, when the battery is between 60-82%, the computer is slow and cpu usage is always 100%). then I change the bios to the A6, A7 to try whether permanent freeze. and the fact remains there lock up.

please help to guide me in solving this problem lock up because I was very stressed with this problem. when I do the final project for my college, there continue to lock up

please help what should I do first to solve my problem

    sorry for my bad english

    regards,
    Ivan from Indonesia

i have a similar system, win 7 x64.. no lockup issues here. maybe you have bad memory/ram ... thats usually the more common reason for lockups

idk what to do ether ... a while ago it used to happen to me like 8-11 times aday and after some updates ago it's 1-3 times every couple days ...

But every time I attempt to use skype it freezes up on me

If I was to recommend anything, wipe you HDD clean and do a fresh install

i have a problem same with you white, but it was at vista 64 bit.
but i know what is the problem is.

the problem is the sata nvidia driver chipset. dont upgrade your sata driver nvidia. the newest is sucks, make you freeze all the time.

just downgrade your driver with :
nvidia nforce serial ATA controller version 10.3.0.42

its allready at you dvd driver from dell. at folder ( R202284)

after i downgrade with that chipset. my vista was smooth... freeze just a little time. but after i clear install and use win 7 64 bit. it was great... no freeze.. but i got freeze just 1 time (after 1 week install win 7)

    so good luck....

im from indonesia too, at jakarta.
