    Hi Guys
I have just brought (about 5 days ago) an XPS 1330 and lovin it apart from one HUGE disappointment...

The low quality appearance of the LED Display (which mine has).
It seems to be very 'grainy' when looking at photos and the like. The display just doesn't look 'high quality'. Hooking it up to my Desktop display and the difference is even more noticable when compared to the normal Desktop display. The same is true when the laptop and Desktop are side by side.

I'm quite disappointed with this as the main purpose of me choosing this machine was to have a compact photo editing laptop for use when on long trips away from home. I've recently got back from a trip to South Africa and it would've been great to have there with me to work on the photos when not out taking them.

So, how do all you out there find your 1330 Displays? Connected to external displays or otherwise.
Could mine be faulty? Gpu running at about 40-60 C so not too hot I woulda thought.

Any input on this will be very much appreciated. I'm gonna try it out on my HDTV via the HDMI lead to see if this is the same.

    Thanks

Just been reading about the 1530 screen issues with graininess (sp?)

Gonna take my 1330 in store where I bought it from and ask to compare it to other models - that way the rep with me can see the problem for himself - hopefully get it sorted asap.

Any other 1330 owners had this problem or am I the unlucky one :-(

When you check out that thread, you'll see there is a way to tell which LED screen you have. If it is CMO (most likely it is based on your description of the screen), then it is Chi Mei, if it says LCD2306, then it is Toshiba, if it says SEC541, then it is Samsung. I realized that the device ID for the Samsung was referred to as CCFL in the thread. It is not true... It's an LED screen.

Good luck with your replacement -if you decide to go that route. There is no way to control what the replacement screen is going to be (hopefully not another CMO).
