Sorry if this has been asked.

I was just wondering if there is a way on M1530 to turn off bluetooth (or wireless) only? Because I've found times that it'd be handy when I only need one of them to be on...

I've seen my coworker's Inspiron where he could select from a list (BT+Wireless, BT Only, Wireless Only, Both Off) right from the systray but QuickSet doesn't seem to do that.

    Thanks in advance.

There's a couple ways to do so:

*You can go into the BIOS and set the wireless switch to control WiFi only. Provided that you have the switch set to "off" at that point, Bluetooth should stay off thereafter even when you turn WiFi on.

*At least in Windows XP, you can go to the bluetooth icon on the taskbar (the Windows one, not Dell - you may have to turn the Dell one off for the Windows one to appear). Then right-click the bluetooth icon and select "Disable Bluetooth Radio". I just tested it and it worked right away. Unfortunately I'm not sure if Vista has a bluetooth icon has a Bluetooth icon on the taskbar - at the least it should have a "Bluetooth Configuration" section in the Control Panel.

    Thanks Apollo13.

I'm on Vista x64 and there is a Bluetooth icon in the systray, but it doesn't have the "Disable Bluetooth Radio" option (please see attachment).

I remember seeing that option somewhere but just can't figure out where...

For me its between remove the icon and open settings...which you seem to be missing...weird. Do you have the proper driver installed for it?

Woot, that fixed the problem. Thanks!

There was nothing wrong in the Device Manager until I tried to connect my cell phone to it through bluetooth, then all of a sudden it pops up a "Driver Cannot be Installed" error. I went to Dell's website and grabbed the x64 driver, ran it and viola, everything's working now.

Thanks alot for the help guys :)
