I have an XPS M1530 with a 9 cell battery on order, due 19th Feb, and am now looking for a good backpack for international travel and office use.

Will the 9 cell battery cause problems with a normal 15.4" backpack?

Dell (UK) site seems to recommend a 17" model, or the Dell own brand backpack, but information about this is rather vague.

I currently have a 5 year old Targus backpack, which has served me very well for my Inspiron, so that is my preferred brand.

Has anybody got a particularly good backpack for this system (9 cell), or any recommendations, problem reports, or good UK deals!

    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards to all..

    Swiss Gear - The Sphinx

I owned the Pegasus before this which is the 17" version of this backpack and let me tell you, both of these backpacks are phenomenal.
    - Very durable design
    - plenty of storage space
    - they stand upright by themselves
    - offer great protection for laptops
    - very comfortable to wear around
    - mp3 player pocket with hole for headphone cord
    - reinforced carrying handle for when you dont want to carry it on your back

the only negative thing about these backpacks is the price. But this one is on sale for $50 USD. I ordered mine from overstock.com and got it in about 4 days. This one seems to be more difficult to come by in the states. Found lots of them on the UK ebay site.

The only bad thing about my XPS M1730 backpack, is its clearly labelled 'XPS', which, when translated, means 'Steal Me' !!!

Has anyone experienced problems with using a 15.4" laptop bag when the m1530 has the 9 cell battery fitted and it is in the sleeve it came with?

    Any reccomendations for this setup?

yup i have that one and it fits just nicely. i usually have 6-cell battery on the laptop and 9-cell in the backpack but the laptop compartment can fit m1530 with 9-cell battery too..

also, few magazines, xps cd booklet + manuals, power brick, mouse, mp3 player, cellphone, digital camera, few usb sticks, wallet, few cables and still lots of space left. it is pretty big :D

however, it's heavy when loaded up like that but the awesome padding makes it very comfortable to wear and it all feels less heavy than it actually is :)

I don't know about backpacks but I use a Pakuma Choroka K2 messenger bag and I think the inner sleeve should accomodate the 9 cell battery. Check out http://www.ebags.co.uk/
