So now I'm being told that they are no longer offering the LED LCD screens on the XPS 1340 which is why mine came with the CCFL and the replacement spec'd with the LED was rejected as well. Guess I'm SOL as they won't budge on the fact that they say even though the website shows it, they are no longer offering it and that all 1340s are now being shipped with CCFL screens.
Check your invoices and part numbers if you are ordering! Just because your order confirmation shows it doesn't mean that's what you'll get! Buyer beware...seems Dell is doing a bait and switch. I'll be filing a complaint with the Attny General next week.

hope in future they get a motherboard with stronger gpu, like 13inch lg p310. blows any 13 inch laptop away but is ugly on the looks, would be nice to have that card in xps 13
-
Heh, I didn't realize anyone offered a 9600GT (w/ GDDR3 on board RAM) on 13.3" laptops. The next step up would be Asus's 14.1" N81Vp with the Radeon 4650 (with 1GB on board GDDR3 RAM).

Check your invoice that comes on the box and check the part numbers against what you have in the order confirmation. Please let me know if you actually get the WLED screen.

I got LCD and LED part numbers in my invoice... What does that mean?
-
-
What part numbers is the LED LCD? I just ordered mine and the order confirmation says that it is the LED LCD.
-
so someone a few pages back posted that White is on Indefinite back order? can anyone else confirm this? I'm in Canada and white was just released. I hope to hell I get my laptop. My est. ship date is Sept 28th, I ordered Sept 9th. they cancelled both my orders and re-added them on the 11th, I received my accessories on the 17th. I didn't look to see if the cancellation of orders was because of the LED/LCD dealy. guess I'll have to wait until next monday and find out if the damn thing ships....
-
I wonder if there is anything wrong with the speakers... The sound coming from the left one sounds like its shreeking (crackling) when it produces high tones. Anyone heard of this problem?
-
I can't seem to get the HDMI output to work. The laptop doesn't even detect the hdmi connection... Is it this a driver problem?

The hybrid SLI option is determined by a registry entry.
Enter the registry editor and navigate to the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Hybrid
Change the entry HidePowerSetting to a 0.
Restart your computer and viola. You can now alter your power profiles with the Hybrid SLI settings. -

I'm having a problem with my studio xps 13, it crashes at least 2 times a day, but it is only when I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. I'm using windows 7 pro, with the nvidia 186.03 display driver.

Alcohol, and it comes off quite easily. You get a nice mirror finish on the chips, with a fairly dull interface on the heatsink. I did notice that my GPUs will drop into the upper 40's while doing normal web stuff on the Zalman cooler, and it never did that before.

Rum is good? lol, i have to find some industrial alcohol.

Grrr.... The A11 Bios update did absolutely nothing to fix DPC latency on my 1340. Just when I thought this would finally be fixed... It seems weird that it only seems to fix the problem on some people's computers.
I've used it combined with many different video drivers.... NVIDIA 186.81, 186.82, 196.91, DOX 185.85, as well as the latest one on DELL site which is the old 179.82. Latency is there with ALL of them. A11 did nothing for me, I have checked and confirmed that it definitely is installed.
Has anyone else who has A11 and still has DPC latency problems figured anything out?? This is sooooooooo annoying!

First, after the A11 update (and maybe the nForce driver link from here) my XPS 1340 is fantastic. The only problem I have is when I switch to SLI mode my gaming doesn't get any better. But I don't game that much, so I can wait this out.
Are you using the Synaptic driver for you touchpad? I had some weird issues with the stock Windows driver, where I kept bumping it and double clicking things (or losing focus). The Synaptic driver lets you tweak the sensitivity quite easily.
What exactly is your problem with ejecting optical discs? You don't have an ISO mounter on your system do you? That's what kept mine from ejecting, and I figured out that the eject button will always eject the first "CD" drive, even if it's just a mounted ISO. Once I moved the physical drive back to letter D, the eject button has worked perfectly. -
what is DPC latency and how do i find out if i have it. thnx
-
What is a search and how do I use it
-
The annoying this is that A11 is actually WORSE than the A08 I previously had for latency. I never get a full screen in the latency checker without any red in it. I wonder if maybe reverting back to an old BIOS and then to A11 again would help...?

I use the 15.35 WHQL driver listed on post #3367, and they seem fine.
http://go.notebookreview.com/?id=52...5.35_nforce_win7_64bit_international_whql.exe
In posts after that one, there's reference to using 15.37, but I haven't upgraded mine. Since mine has been perfect, I'm afraid to.I will just wait for Dell to have "official" Windows 7 drivers on their support site, but until then I will use the laptop as it is; a strong machine for running my VMs and a couple games.

My advice: Call dell, tell them to replace it.
My 1340 is great but apparently some of ells units are just retards right off the assembly line -
I believe I have seen this posted before but I will ask anyways... On occasion when I bring my 1340 out of sleep the wifi light on the touch panel above the keys will flash wildly turning wireless on and off for up to a few minutes, sometimes I even have to restart. It's extremely annoying, all the other functions up there are fine. FYI..I have vista premium and all current dell drivers, including a11. Any thoughts?
-
JeffMurph004, I have the same issue with you. This only happened when I updated the BIOS. So I am not sure whether this is the problem. I deleted and install Quickset again, and it seems to be ok when you don't carry the laptop around in sleep mode. Otherwise it will not flash wildly when the laptopn resume from the sleep mode.

Hello folks,
I have a 1340 with a clean Win 7. When I start a webcam at Windows Live Messenger, it freezes in a while. This was occurring when I was using Dell's Original Vista as well. I have A11, but A07 was same too. I've already installed latest camera driver from Dell's Support Web Site.
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks

Ok, the system does get hot and it would make your lap incredibly hot, if not burn it if you were to hold it while playing a game. I've gotten back into Oblivion and using HWMonitor, I noticed both GPUs topped out at 92°C while the other temperatures all broke 90°C. Intel specs say the CPU can tolerate 105°C. I couldn't find any specs on the GPUs, but they can generally handle higher temperatures than CPUs. I've never had any artifacting or stability problems so I'm going to keep on playing. What is everyone else hitting under max load?
-
I've been around 75*C without my cooler, and 65*C with my Zalman NC1000 notebook cooler. Also, I put on MX-2 thermal paste before I really started much gaming on it, and the GPU would hit 70*C without much effort and no cooler.
-
You might want to look into the thread about changing out the thermal paste.
I'll let you know when i get mine in a few days ;-) -
. I don't see why would use the notebook directly on their lap though as that also worsens heat dissipation (not to mention is uncomfortable) especially while gaming.
-
If thats the case tough, try contact dell and make them replace the laptop or atleast the cooler-system.
When benchinh with extremeburning on mine, i got as high as 75 but not more.
So yours seems rather faulty then normal. -
The XPS 1340 has got to be the one with the worst webcam. It just fails in darker lit rooms. Anyone feel the same or is it just me?
