-edit: n/m, 8.690 only supports desktop cards-
you can find it at http://strags.com/ shortly. -
Is this applicable to SXPS 1640 Win7 x64?
-
Tried it. Works. Tq. Anyway, wheres the 8690 that u were talking about ?
-
Is it applicable to the XPS 16? Yes it is. I think it only supports Vista/7 (32-bit and 64-bit), I have to double check.
-
So are these drivers better/more recent than the modded desktop drivers direct from ATI?
-
Yes. ATI CATALYST 9.12 bugged release is 8.681, and the hotfix CATALYST 9.12 is 8.682. These Dell drivers are 8.683.2.000
-
Sweet. Thanks man.
-
Is it a Beta release?? Any improvements over the Modded Ati Drivers??
Thanx -
i have already:
Catalyst Control Center 2010.0106.1007.18033
ATI Catalyst Install Manager 3.0.762.0
ATI Display Driver 8.700.0.000
HDMI Audio Driver 7.11.0.7701
AVIVO 10.12.0.41210
and this is not even the newest i could install. i think i'll just wait now for the official 10.1 driver. -
scorpeeeon, where did you get that ?
-
By any chance is there an option for switchable graphics on these drivers?
-
chewy: here: http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46
i think this is the latest stuff: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=313969 -
The difference is you have to mod those drivers to work, and these are designed to work and support Dell systems. I must say the performance of this new driver is great, at least on the desktop. Things are working very well for me with the new Dell driver. I can even enable 10-bit workstation color support.
-
I have tried modding the RC1 and RC2 10.x betas and they dont work. They mod fine but will not install.Install manager just bypasses the driver all together.
I used the ones from Rage3D im almost positive there the same. -
-
I found these too http://strags.com/
8.69 driver i think there from ASUS.
All of these new mobile driver are fling around everywhere...5000 series release is helping I guess -
official 10.1 available
-
-
It only works if you use the Mobility Modder.
-
Oh ok. is it worth updating coz I have the one from dell ftp and it seems to work fine
-
just found out that these official 10.1 drivers can't be installed even using mobility modder so i think it's better just to wait..
-
I couldnt install RC1 or RC2 either.Modded or not. -
-
Then I guess we'll have to wait for a MobilityModder update or a Mobility Radeon compatible 10.1
-
No luck installing 10.1 from ATI. Tried completely removing any pre-existing ATI drivers and even applying a C++ hotfix from MS, no go. So installed the drivers linked in this thread since they appear to be a bit newer than ATI's 9.12.
-
yeah, this is really strange.
btw the problem has been posted to the official mobility modder forum: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/hardw...1-seems-ro-break-mobility-modder-support.html
so they know about it know.
btw the previous betas (8.700) installed for me just fine without even using mobility modder. -
weird
according to dell, this driver supports dell studio 1558, same ATI hd4570 with my dell studio 1555
but my dell studio 1555 is not included -
I'm wondering longtime ago, does mobility modder affects battery live compared to OEM drivers ?
I know it will give you better performance duo to the use of newer drivers, but what about battery life ?
any real world comparision ? -
imho it won't affect battery life, all ati drivers have powerplay options. so unless u change ur powerplay settings, battery life won't change.
btw mobility modder's admin reported they're working with ati on a new version to support 10.1 drivers and Mobility HD5000 series cards. -
ignore this sorry

Ive recently noticed that you can now download ATI's mobility drivers directly from their website, does this means that now ATI is supporting the mobility cards?
Some time ago I remember I could only download unofficial mobility drivers only from the laptop manufacter website (dell, hp, acer, etc) -
Note: The Mobility Radeon ATI Catalyst drivers for Windows 7 are beta and are only available for Windows 7 beta releases. For up to date Mobility Radeon graphics drivers for Windows 7, please contact your laptop manufacturer
