Is it possible to play 1080p h.264 video on m1330 smoothly? I have 2.2ghz t7500 based m1330 and have installed CoreAVC h.264 codec (I use Win Media Player for playback), however the video and sound are very choppy. 720p video is acceptable, but could be smoother as well. Do I need a faster lappy/CPU? Thanks.

It should do 1080p AVC video with no trouble at all, even with a slower codec like ffdshow.

    Two things to consider.

    1) Is the cpu set to full performance? When downclocked, the T7500 goes to 1.2 GHz. 720p plays fine at that speed with CoreAVC, but most 1080p files are stuttery

    2) Is CoreAVC set to the prefered decoder? If you have FFDshow (included in K-lite codec pack and CCCP or standalone) installed, disable the h.264 decoding part of it, and the open the CoreAVC settings and set it to the prefered Codec.

    Hi. Thanks for your suggestions.
    1) How can I check whether the CPU is at full performance?
    2) I used to have K-lite installed, then I unistalled it and installed CoreAVC. For whatever reason I am not able to save CoreAVC as preferred - I check the box and press Apply, but next time I open configuration the box is unchecked :(

Oh, that's ok, it's set as prefered.

Change the vista powerprofile to Full performance.

Hmm... It seems that it was a CPU issue. I switched to High Performance power profile and it now plays perfectly, however I am also running at significantly higher CPU/GPU temps as well :(

    Hey

I had the same problem, it looked like the video was stuttering almost.

This is what I use now and have no problems what so ever.

    FFDSHOW-RUNNING WHEN WMP 11 STARTS.

    CORE AVC- ALSO RUNNING.

With these both I am now running full 1080p Files on my lappy no problem, and even run through my panny 42" Plasma.

Oh also I did not need to use power profile either, this even works on my desktop with amd athlon 4400+, which is a weaker processor than the one you have, and again no problem.

If you download the 'Dell Recommended' power profile, the CPU speed will dynamically adjust when required.

Where can I find the Dell recommended profile? I was thinking that it would be nice to change power profiles on the fly without digging into the Control Panel.

    Found it! Thanks.
I'll also look into the cooper plate mod, since the lappy is now running significantly warmer.
