im looking in to buying a new laptop and its out of these two.

as their is no dell store to actually go and see these with my own eyes i would like some opinions...

i initally like the 13, but how small is it ? i dont want something too small....and yet the 16 seems to big? does anyone have or can provide links to both these models side by side?

i wont really be using it for gaming, mostly dvds internet and raring and unraring big files.

    thanks in advance

Both systems will handle what you want to do just fine.

It really depends on your preference.

I have fat fingers, so I like a bigger keyboard and personally would want the 16.

The 13 is much smaller and almost 2lb lighter, so if you want to move it around a lot, you might prefer that.

The 16 has the 1080p option; which is much better for multitasking. But, have you checked out the Studio15 line?? It will do exactly what you mentioned in a size thats in between the 13 and 16.

I'm in the same position as you. I need a laptop for uni, don't know whether to pick the 13 or 16.

Picking the 13 gives you more power per buck
Picking the 16 gives you a massive screen (1080 v pixels compared to 800). Its also quite big compared to the 13, a good few inches wider, which would make it less likely for me to pick it up and bring it to lectures/library.

I am leaning towards the 13, as I will use an external monitor when at home and dual desktop.... but the 16 has a bigger screen to start with. Hard choice :)

Yes they're the same type of interface. Buy it, install it and away you go!

i would go with the studio xps 16 because i once tried the dell xps m1330 and the screen was awfully small and even my eyes started to get pained.

I went for the 13" for portability and use it at home with a 24" inches lcd. even at 16" , i found the 1080p too much (min for me is a 24" to feel comfortable at this res). the dimension of the xps 13 and weight for the power are perfect IMHO. again it depends on how you want to use it.

i remember having a sony SZ series laptop, which had quite a small screen so im guessing i will be better suited for the 16"
