Now that IBM have offered the 13.3" widescreen WXGA+ (1440 x 900) on their new system, would Dell also have this on offer for their M1330 XPS.

This would be perfect for me....

I guess i'll have to wait even more now with so much being released.

I'm not sure about dell offering it.. But they're rumours of a back lit LED m1530 that might harbour that display so they might then add it to the m1330 too.

    This would make the m1330 a real pro-notebook with a WXGA+ display.

first - IBM doesn't make notebooks anymore
second - LENOVO has not announced anything. these are RUMORS.
third - what is the point of this thread? to tell everybody that you're going to wait? ok, we're all grateful for the info.

You don't sound very grateful. Infact you sound like an arse. I for one hadn't heard any rumours about a manufacturer contemplating issuing a WXGA+ panel in a 13.3" form. Ergo, the OP's thread has far more importance to the members of this forum than your incessant whining.

Don't you guy think that WXGA+ on 13.3" is going too small? I went to bestbuy and looked at WXGA on M1330. The font and everything looks very small to my taste.

You'll seriously hurt your eyes if the 1330 had a WXGA+ display. After prolonged use, the WXGA on my 1330 strains my eyes.

WXGA on a 13.3" is not small. I have an XPS M1330. 1920x1200 on a 15.4" is small. WXGA+ would be perfect on a 13.3" for a resolution with more screen area. Some of you must just not be used to higher resolutions and probably need glasses lol :p.

I am wearing eyeglass thank you very much. :D Seriously, I think WXGA+ on M1330 is too small in my opinion. What you need high resolution for ayway? If you do photo editing, don't you think you should use external monitor? It would making more sense to me instead of looking at small screen.

13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA TL WLED Backlit LCD with Camera, XPS M1330

The above is what mine is shipping with. Sorry to sound ignorant but how is it different than the one above WXGA you want on the 1330??
    Thanks

WXGA is 1280x800, but WXGA+ is 1440x900. Personally, I think it is a little too small for 13.3" screen.

Why argue when you can quantify?

WXGA+ on a 13.3" would have a pixel density very close to that of WSXGA+ on a 15.4". Too dense for some people, just right for others.

    13.3" WXGA:
    sqrt((1 280^2) + (800^2)) / 13.3 = 113.49 DPI
    13.3" WXGA+:
    sqrt((1 440^2) + (900^2)) / 13.3 = 127.68 DPI
    15.4" WSXGA+:
    sqrt((1 680^2) + (1 050^2)) / 15.4 = 128.65 DPI

Personally, I think my screen resolution, which is 1280x800 on a 14.1" screen (107.05 DPI) is just about perfect. But I like to be able to use it without my eyeglasses. ;)

Anyway, I'm kind of skeptical about the Lenovo x300 being real, but in any event, some LCD maker might start making WXGA+ panels at some point, and if/when they do, Dell will probably start offering them as an option... Dell's pretty good about offering any configuration options they can.

I wont go for 1440 x 900 on the M1330. It nice but bordering on some difficulty on extended use. Its almost the same pixel density of the smaller 12.1" panels.

On the 14" maybe, but not on the 13.3.

I would love to have 1440x900 on this laptop. I came from a toshiba m200 (12.1 inches with SVGA+, 1400x1050) and I hadn't any problem with my eyes. It is good for coding or design.

It would be perfect for me, the problem like others is that there is no high resolution screens on 12.1 or 13.3 inches :(

I'm guessing with Dell selling E-series ultraportable notebooks offered with LED backlit WXGA or WXGA+, you should be able to get the WXGA+, on the XPS m1330 :)

Its gonna be too small. I think 1440 x 900 is more suited for 15.4".

    I feel that 1280 x 800 is perfect for 13.3"

I'd personally expect a refresh announcement shortly after Montevina launches. (...or after Apple rejuvenate the Macbooks, which will likely be around the same time.)

Oddly enough, I haven't heard any rumours so far regarding what that refresh might entail, however I think you only have to look to the competition at present to see many of the improvements and options that you should expect of a new competitive M1330. (I say 'odd' because we've known about the Latitudes and 'Minspiron' updates a lot furthur from actual release than any new thirteen inch XPS.)

I have both M1210 and M1330. M1210 with 1280x800 is perfect with my eyes and 1440x900 LED will be perfect on my M1330.
