Okay, while I sit here trying to understand the logic of dell putting the fan vents on the bottom of the computer instead of the side on the 1530, I find myself wondering if the 1330 shares the same "interesting" design or do the vents go out the sides?

I'm cooking my boys using this 1530 on my lap. "laptop" must mean different things to different people.

This is why they're urging people to call it a notebook rather than a laptop, since you're not actually supposed to have it on your lap.

The heat vent on the m1330 is on the top right of the bottom of the case, so it has the same problem, but I'd only assume there are ways to fix this. Getting a notebook cooler might be your best bet if you plan on doing this more often. Maybe a 9-cell battery would also help, since it elevates the computer up a bit.

I have 0 issues using my 1330 on my lap using either the 6 or 9 cell battery. I did replace the stock thermal paste with AS5 and I am undervolting my T7500 and locking it at the 7 [email protected] volts. Runs very cool. Before I put vista on my 1330, I had XP Pro SP2. My fan almost never came on under normal usage. With Vista its almost always on, but its at the lowest setting and I really can't even hear it in a quiet room. Try using RMClock. It will save battery life and make your notebook run cooler, which in turn keeps your fan off longer.
