Stressing the 1340, Dell released a system update yesterday that I believe is meant to address the WU BSOD issue, as it adds support for some hotfixes, etc...

    Link: http://support.dell.com/support/dow...-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=7&fileid=303637

Might solve some issues for some people. (I haven't had any, so I am not a good Guinea pig for this. Thought I'd share in a common thread.) Even if it doesn't it says it's urgent, so...

    Good luck, people...

I also don't have any issues with my 1640 now, so I'm in doubt whether to still install this "urgently important" system update or not.

So "if it ain't broken, don't fix it"?

I installed it, and it seems to have installed one WU (shows as yesterday, though I know that Wu didn't install anything yesterday.)

    So, it didn't break anything...yet...lol...

I'm installing this now and I think it's been running for 5 minutes already. Is this really taking this long to install this one?

    Yeah, about that.

What is this supposed to fix? Where does the link talk about BSOD issues?

From Dell tech support phone call...comes installed on machines as of yesterday, and is supposed to fix the WU issues with BSODs.

Big mistake. My 1640 would not play MP3s (doesn't matter which media player) after installing this. System Restore to the rescue!
