i have a problem freeze all the time :
    - when the notebook on batteries at login screen its always freeze
    - some times freeze with black screen
    - freeze with black screen and some some lining colors

but it was at vista 64 bit.
but i know what is the problem is.

the problem is the sata nvidia driver chipset. dont upgrade your sata driver nvidia. the newest is sucks, make you freeze all the time.

just downgrade your driver with :
nvidia nforce serial ATA controller version 10.3.0.42

its allready at you dvd driver from dell. at folder ( R202284)

after i downgrade with that chipset. my vista was smooth... freeze just a little time. but after i clear install and use win 7 64 bit. it was great... no freeze.. but i got freeze just 1 time (after 1 week install win 7)

    so good luck....

    note :
if you go with win 7 and still the newest chipset, it will make you still freeze.
just go with R202284 chipset driver what ever you OS is
