Not too shaby,I`m particularly interested in the 13 inch model...
-
you can get it decked out for about $1700. i was hoping for at least a 9600M video card. the 9500M only gets about 3600 in 3dmark06.

Yeah, excited since the Nehalem laptop party starts in the fall! You guys have less than 11 months left to enjoy Centrino 2 before Nehalem takes over!
-
aawwwwaawwww
My ordered studio 17 is centrino 2

These haven't shown up on the Dell Canada web-site yet
-
Hmmm the 16" model turns out to be pretty good. A good semi-gaming laptop. I thought it was gonna be crap.
On the other hand ... the nehalem platform is coming within a year or so ... so im not sure whether i should be happy for you guys or not
Proud owner of the awesome xps 1530. Ive got nothing to worry -
So this 13" uses the Nvidia chipset over the intel centrino2, right?
The 9400M G is nvidia's one chip solution also used in the new MacBooks.

so, if everyone is talking like the new 13 inch studio is the successor to the M1330..a.k.a 1340, does that mean Dell is discontinuing the M1330 pretty soon because right now it's being sold side by side with the new product line. Just wondering if anyone has the facts.
-
Dell is discontinuing the whole XPS premium line and downgrade the line to xps studio, while transferring the prestige premium line to Alienware instead.
So in short, dell is getting rid of all the current xps model (ie m1330 and m1530, not sure about m1730 but i think it will face the same destiny as its little brothers) with large discount etc -
I really wouldn't consider it a downgrade from an xps to an xps studio. Because i have the m1330 & besides the new 1340 being thicker i think its its a decent upgrade. I just hope there no gpu issues. But is it just me missing something or does the new xps studio lack the fingerprint reader?
-
@tsitwone > yea maybe ... but the xps studio line is not as 'revolutionary' as the xps line when it came out few years ago. either upgrade or downgrade. It is quite clear that dell is scrapping the premium line and hand that over to alienware.
-
yea your right about the revolutionary part. It basically just a slight upgrade from xps and little of the new mac design thrown in. I just wish they would of at least given the 13" 3 usb ports even the mini/netbooks have 3 usb. Thats what I hate about my 1330 now because I usually keep a heating pad under it most of the time and that leave 1 port. & i just haven't forked over the money yet for a usb hub. But I cant wait for a video review of this new line.

I kinda hope that dell will release a studio xps 18.
-
Oh well, it doesnt concern me at all. Im still too happy with my m1530
After 1 or 2 years, ill be ready to jump to the nehalem platform
1340 is here
