Bought a Dell 1530 Laptop 2 weeks ago with McAffety 3 year protection. Was just on computer on FaceBook when all these windows come at me one after another....being a computer dummy what am I looking at other than all those windows that were coming at me. I now can't get computer to come back on....just a dead black screen...possibly a virus ??? and if so why wouldn't Mcaffefy prevent that....any help would be appreciated, thanx in advance.

    Using daughters old laptop now.....

A virus which has damaged the bootloader, or some important startup items, you can try to start in Safe Mode, that might let you in.

McAfee is not quiet good if I can understand well.. I would suggest trying few other very good free protection suites (Drop by windows security software sub-forum).

As for your issue, I am looking at the famous facebook virus possibly. I would (as another member mentioned before) try starting in safe mode, and scrub the system clean with a free AV-program and also with my antispyware (You can chose one among Superantispyware, malwarebytes antimalware and spybot search and destroy)...

Else, I wouldn't be surprised if the professionals around here on NBR recommend a clean install!!!!
