hey guys, i know you guys get asked about this a million times and probably your answer i'm guessing is a card defect or whatever ****ty dell issue. i'm really sorry, but i wanted to create my own thread for this.. mainly for peace of mind lol.
well i bought my xps 1530 last august from singapore (dell.com.sg). it comes with the 8600m gt. the bios is A09 and i've got the latest driver update for the 8600m gt from the official dell website. i also undervolt my xps, and temp only peaks at 65 for gpu and the other stuff - well basically temp is okay.
until recently, i didn't get a lot of the infamous blue screen related to that nvsomething.dll while gaming, mainly because i play low end games (ones that were released a decade ago) - i did get the occasional error though. yesterday i installed world of warcraft and i crashed every time i am about 5 minutes into playing the game with that blue screen error.
seriously what is the problem? and what do i need to do to fix it? if it's a driver related issue, can you pinpoint which one exactly on that laptopvideo2go (or whatever it's called) i should get? if it's a hardware issue, how big of a hole in my wallet will this burn?
the problem is i am in london now, and i don't have international warranty. i am very disappointed with my dell purchase (i could live with the occasional crashes with the old games, but now i realized i don't think i can even run new games), supposedly "gaming" machine and top reviews on just about any notebook site out there. then there are some threads on this forum which says its basically dying and i need to replace something. aah.. disappointment..
i think i kinda regret buying it nownever a dell again.

nvlddmkm.sys is usually indicative of buggy drivers. This happened to me everyday using the 172.xx drivers.
I changed them to a different one and never got the a BSOD again.
Worst case scenario, if this error still persists then your GPU is dying. -

also, you said you've undervolted your 1530. Did you do stress tests at each voltage to see if they were stable? If you haven't that could be the case... where you lowered your voltage a tad bit too much and thus, while running games like WoW, you get the bsod.

thanks guys and yes i stress-tested them according to the guide
but i will work on the drivers now, i just checked on the dell official website a driver for the 8600m has been put up dated 23rd october. i will try that first.
if it fails, can you guys recommend me a driver version from laptopvideo2go? i know it's probably different for everyone, but i just wanna start some where
thanks
UPDATE: i'm still crashing on the driver available on the dell site, it is 176.44
any suggestions? -
1. Get that volts back to the normal, and test it.
If persist
2. When you turn on your XPS, you have 2 options, Setup and another one i don't remember how is displayed, hint this last one, and it will show you a menu, i think the last option was a hardware test, run it, like 70% of BSOD i saw in my life was RAM fault, so if your ram is having any issue this will let you know.
If you get nothing here, and persist... and you still want to find the solution, try reinstalling everything, otherway, call Dell Support. -
thanks but i fixed it by installing 177.66 from laptopvideo2go
