    Hello,

My 1530 loses its connection after every use. I have the intel AGN wireless card. Usually this happens after a few hours of use. When it loses connection I cannot get it back. In fact when I search for a network I can't pick up any wireless signals at all (usually I can see 10+.) The only way I can get back the connection is to turnoff the computer and then turn it back on. I'm sure that this is not a problem with my router (my desktop has no problems.)

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks.

Have you checked the properties set on your wireless card? I found that mine was shutting itself off due to the power saving feature checked.

Also make sure that it is set to full power and check the other options while you are in there.

Mine drops the connection every once in a while and I have to use the diagnose and repair function by right clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting diagnose and repair.

Other times, I have to reset the card and acquire a new address. Sometimes I have only local connection and no Internet. I have disconnect and then re-connect and it works fine.

Sometimes it also helps to reset the router by turning it off, wait 10 seconds and switch it back on.

Thanks for the tip. I give it a shot and see if this fixes it. Out of curiousity how do I reset the card and acquire a new address? When I try the repair function after losing a connection it won't work.

    Disconnect it and then reconnect.

Windows will also allow you to reacquire an address under diagnose and repair if it cannot repair the connection.

You might also check your setup in Dell Quickset for wireless.

You can also use the Network and Sharing Center in the Control Panel to troubleshoot. It is a lot of trial and error.

When you say disconnect, do you mean reset the router? When I have this problem I can't connect to my wireless router, even though my desktop has no problem doing so.

I'll check out the quickset to see if there's anything there.

    Thanks again for the tips.

Try changing the channel for the wireless router. You may be getting interference from some other nearby wireless card or some other source of RF. I had a similar problem that was resolved when I changed the frequency of my router.
