its too hot for cake right now..unless its ice cream cake. So are you implying that its ok for me to use the laptop immediately after receiving it despite the temp differences of delivery truck and room?

Hey, when you receive it...you may want to do a clean install (remove bloatware that Dell sends you as an extra gift) ;) and do some Vista tweaks. :)

Here are two of the guides that Les put together, and they work really well ;) :)

You do not need to let your 1530 sit in a room overnight at all!! :D Unless, you really want to! lol

Once, you get it open it up..make sure all is there that ordered, and look it over very carefully to make sure all is *perfect* for you ;) :)

Then, just completely *own* that baby! ;) :)

    WoOT...its getting close for you ;) :)

    Hope that helps!

    Cin ;) :)

I think leaving it on overnight would be ridiculous. If anything it'd be tempting you to turn it on all night. You've been waiting for this laptop, and yet as it sits in your room untouched overnight, you'd be wasting your time. Although if you really find it that precious why not. But really, you should open it and check it out for flaws in the system. You wouldn't find out if you didn't turn it on and saw that the screen was grainy, and you'd just lose a day in the return policy. When you first turn it on, it'll be slow but after the second boot up it'll be awesome.

Some things to remember: first boot should be on AC power in case the battery doesn't have anything in it and then that'd be a problem. Right when the battery hits 100% unplug AC and run the battery until it shuts down your system, that'll calibrate the battery to keep a precise metre the next time. When you turn it back on, should be on AC. (Running the battery to 0% will render it useless, recommended would be 10-20%) For more on battery: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=91846 good guide to follow if you're interested.

Also have a run through of everything to make sure they work. That is speakers, media buttons, whatever you can think of test it out.

The next thing I did was propping it on two cd cases (front and back) and started using it for daily uses. Have fun.
