I will be doing 80/20 stationary to travelling with a laptop.

    Has anyone done this?

I know that the 1330 is smaller but being a gamer the 1530 is very interesting to me. Is the extra weight a problem?

It all depends. I would say with that kind of traveling your gonna want a 1330. Go to a local bestbuy and pick up the 1530 and then compare it to the 1330. Most Bestbuys are suppose to have this.

I think it all depends on how you are going to travel. I've traveled 6 months with 700m in my backpack and I would say, if you do a lot of traveling/walking smaller is the definitely way to go. If you are willing and able to carry around extra bulk and weigh I would go with M1530. I guess it's all up to what kind of traveling is in your path. M1330 would definitely fit your need better, if you don't mind playing games at bottom half of setting while you travel, but if you MUST/WANT to play game at upper half of setting you are going to have to consider carrying extra weight with you. I would definitely go with M1330 if I ever travel again, because when you do trave a lot even 1 pound will eventually going to feel like 100 pounds along the line.

definitely the m1330, I wouldn't even want to carry the m1530 around the house. Only take the m1530 if its going to be your main machine for gaming.

If your going to be traveling weight is going to be a concern, the 1330's lighter weight you will appreciate. How much gaming are you going to do and what do you plan to play? Maybe you should fill out the What Should I Buy? FAQ and post it in the What Should I Buy? forum so we can't see if we can find you something that meets in the middle ground.

You can alway buy a Roller case for your laptop if you find it heavy. I used one about the same weight as the M1530 for years, I did about 80% travel and 20 % home as well. It never bother me, and being out that long i was happy to have the bigger screen, i did this with a 14.1" notebook then a 15" notebook (Toshiba, IBM and my first one was a Dell Inspiron 3000 That weighed in at 10 Lbs.) As i do 99% of my work electronically (meaning no pen and paper) All i carry in my messanger bag is my Notebook, Power cord, and a USB stick. When i fly i pack everything else into my Carry on rollerboard that i might need for a meeting or work.
Only thing is on the airplane a 15" laptop is useless in coach. I now travel with a 12.1" Tablet but i find the screen to small for everyday use and will be changint this soon as well (Company notebook), I travel about 20% of the time now.

To fly in the face of opinion, I have to say go with the 1530. It really isn't very heavy at all, I'd be quite happy to carry it long distance. I'd certainly be happy to carry the extra burden its increased performance provides.

It comes with a slip case to keep it safe, all you need is a comfy backpack and you're sorted.

For your needs the 1330 will meet them just fine, no need for the big 1530.

Weight isn't the only factor.....physical size comes into play as well.

The 1530 is pretty big for travelling. I just did four flights with it and it is hefty, and the max I would want to try to use on a plane. I still have a 700m at home and I will be using it for travelling from now on, much more manageable.

Obviously your decision should first and foremost be determined by the work you are doing, so if you don't need to computing power, go with the m1330 and get an external screen for when you are at home.

I personally do alot of CAD work, along with some 3d modeling, and graphics arts work, so i wanted the power of the m1530.

That being said, I have carried the m1530 to and from work everyday in a normal laptop backpack, and it is not a burden at all. Also, anyone whos seen my laptop comments on how light and small it is.

Plus, the m1330 has a TINY touchpad. I thought the m1530 was a little small, but the 1330 is plain difficult to use.

The 1530 is not like carrying around a Vostro or Inspiron, so don't be scared away by the 15" form factor.
