Just wanted to share my personal opinion and experience in comparing the SXPS 16's RGBLED LCD to the newer, less expensive 15.6" Full HD (FHD) LED backlit 1080p display.

Having used the RGBLED for many months, I was never too happy with the "look" of the display. It looked too warm (maybe too yellowish?). Hard to put my finger on it, but in my work, I see LOTS of new desktop LCD monitors and LOTS of new notebooks, and the RGBLED did not have bright, white, whites. Comparing the RGBLED to my HP 24" LCD on my desktop, side-by-side, it was obvious the RGBLED was not pure white. Color corrections, etc., could make it better, but not to my satisfaction. Also, small text looked multi-colored, not black.

Having recently received a SXPS 16 with a 1080p Full HD LED backlit display, and moving my SSD drive to the new SXPS 16 so everything would be identical, I can say that the FHD display is PERFECT! Bright, white, whites (finally), and small text is sharp and black. I cannot really notice that it is 0.4" smaller, so that does not bother me.

For me, the cheaper FHD 1080p display is a better display than the more expensive RGBLED. I wanted to share my opinion for those that are wondering which they should order. If you already have an RGBLED, maybe you could comment on your experience with your RGBLED? But, I believe if you order the FHD display and save a bunch of $$$, you will be perfectly happy!

I agree with you on the whites but your eyes do become accustomed to the warmer whites. The colours I'm sure will be no comparison on the WLED screen as photos just look breathtaking on the RGBLED. It is for this reason I would not want to go back to a non RGBLED screen.

I think that if the SXPS w/RGBLED is your only computer, then yes, you might become accustomed to it. In my case (and many other enthusiasts here that are multi-pc enabled), after working on other computers/screens with great, bright whites, switching back to the RGBLED just is not enjoyable.

I, for one, love a bright LCD with perfect whites and vibrant colors. To be honest, I haven't probably fully utilized the RGBLED display with photos enough to "appreciate" it! ;)

ive had both WLED and RGBLED(SEC5448)........and the SEC5448 blow WLED away bigtime.

    that's a fact (and its free... :))

i also agree that later SEC5448 have whiter white then older models. (when i write this post, the background is just white, i mean really white). (for the record, my SEC5448 is about 3-4 weeks old)

I can live with the warmer whites to have the fantastic colors the RGB screen provides.
After calibration, the RGB screen is the best screen ever on a laptop.

I did calibrations, and even used other users profiles who had the RGBLED.

Maybe it was the batch of screens at the time, creating warmer looking colors. Who knows. In any case, by others comments, it appears that there are different RGBLED screens out there for the SXPS 16.

What I was trying to get across, too, was that unless you spend your day staring at the 16" screen doing color-critical RAW photo work (in which case you're vision must be whacked by now!), the FHD 1080p screen is a beautiful screen. Bright, colorful and sharp. I thought (and others might too) that the RGBLED is better than s-e-x, and pay that hefty premium. It isn't. :D

I'd like to see a different RGBLED screen on a SXPS 16 sometime...not sure I want to order another SXPS with one, for fear of getting one of these yucky ones.

If we're comparing the RGBLED to other manufacturers screens (which I wasn't), then yes, the RGBLED is much better. But, then again, it's an LED backlit screen, which we all know is much better looking (generally) then a CCFL backlit screen (which 2 of the 3 you referenced are?).

My HP HDX18t with 1080p CCFL LCD screen is a VERY NICE display also...one of the best I've had, but it lacks the brightness and vibrancy you get with LED backlits.
