So. From what I've seen lately you can upgrade the xps 15 to 16 gb ram how much of a performance increase is it from 8gbs? And I'm just curious about this upgrade compared to a processor upgrade because they cost about the same.

so what I had in mind would be 16 gb of ram vs i7 - 2760QM

What would you even use the 16 gb ram for? aside from caching some data

Personally I just ordered 16GB of ram for my l502x, but I run several VMs at the same time for work, and memory was my bottleneck. The real question is what do you do with your laptop? If it's gaming, web browsing, office, etc, 8GB is more than enough. If you are constantly in photoshop or other graphic/video applications, then you may benefit from additional RAM if you're using more than 8GB today.

Ah, okay. I suppose I'm leaning towards the processor because All I really do is school work (minor) I have my macbook dedicated for that (its portable what can you say) and play battlefield on my xps 15
