Hey guys,
I've been listening to a bunch of podcasts on my laptop lately and realized that the right hand side speaker is MUCH louder than my than the left speaker, in fact if I lower the balance on the right speaker to 0% and left to 100% it's not half as loud as the right at 100%. Is this normal? If not is there a fix for this?
Thanks guys!
Also when typing, if I press the Caps lock key too fast the cursor disappears and my typing is interrupted anyone know is up with that?
-
I just got one of these in on March 2, and I am having the same problem. Contacted Dell and they wanted to have it replaced.

you are having the same problem with the capslock key as well??
-
What problem is that? No the reason they replaced my keyboard was because of a stuck key issue. One of my letters was getting stuck. Whats with your caps lock?
-
If I press capslock within a typing field to cap and then uncap a letter is actually makes the cursor jump out of the typing field and it tabs over to whatever is next. It's ing ANNOYING.

Hmm that doesnt happen to me. Maybe its a driver issue? I installed the synaptics driver for the touchpad from synaptics website and uninstalled the one from dell. Try that?

EDIT: No longer needed.

Hahaha well yea i admitted i edited it in the last post and the edit field. haha

No worries. outta sight outta mind...
Anyway,
I have not had the issue on my 1647 but I have not tried that driver.
A good rule of thumb (unless you are looking for the latest and greatest) you should always stick to the Dell approved drivers as they verify them, (95% of the time) to be stable on the system.
If you’re like me (needing 100% up time on my PC) then you should follow this rule, if you’re a cutting-edge gamer on the other hand than go for it but expect these issues to come up now and again. In fact, I tend not to upgrade certain drivers unless they solve a particular issue I am having… But again I don’t really game.
If you want the best of both worlds than do a back-up or a system restore point prior to updating/upgrading to new/beta drivers it should help you to avoid these potential pitfalls in the future.
Just some friendly FYI.
EDIT: I use Windows Home Server which uses Cluster by Cluster back-up of my hard drive just in case. It works very well and so worth the expense. And makes a great media sever to my Xbox 360 as well. -
Its because the sub woofer acts as a third speaker, it doesnt just produce bass. Its located on the right side underneath your palm. It gives the allusion that there is more sound coming out of the ride side. Also the perspective of your laptop helps too. If you're 'above' your laptop listening to it then you dont hear it quite as much. If you are level or below then you can hear it.
Another design flaw of this laptop. Find 2 every week, I swear... -
hahaha agreed tenknics and thanks i guess thats actually the reason. Good thinking
