Hey guys,
Got my second 1640 a couple of weeks ago from the outlet store. I'm noticing that this unit is running significantly hotter and louder than my other unit.
Specs:
T9600 2.8Ghz
8GB DDR3 1066
4670 1GB
I've applied Arctic Silver 5 to both CPU/GPU and it's kept it a bit cooler... but still parts of the laptop are very uncomfortable to the touch. One part in particular is the silver trim directly in front of the touchpad, it's super hot, so much so that keeping my finger/hand there for a couple of seconds makes it VERY uncomfortable. I used HWMonitor to get some temp readings. This is what the laptop is idling at, just having my browser open with the fan unblocked and it has airflow.

My other XPS doesn't have this problem but then again it's running a P8600 with an 3670.
Is there anything I can do to improve temps without resorting to buying a laptop cooler? Are these known issues? Dell offering any sort of replacement?
Thanks!

Those temps do not seem too bad, mine were literally twice as high as yours on some readings ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5836420), I've since swapped my t9600 for p8600 and found it runs almost 20c cooler and no longer throttles down whilst gaming.

Mine temps are normal so far, idle CPU ~40C, GPU ~50C, HDD 36C. I keep mine xps with nice airflow, and i use Everest to see temps, cuz HWmonitor shows incorrect temps, I also undervolted mine t9600 - 1.125v

Temps started to idle at 61C on both cores today. It's been on my desk all day long as well.
I rebooted a little while ago and got a BSOD, BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO. I did a search and said it could be either a registry error or bad memory. Well I reinstalled Win7 and still got the problem, ran a memory diagnostics and didn't find any errors. I also noticed something today as I was moving my laptop from one side of my desk to another, there's some sort of bubble protruding outward. It's very small but it wasn't there before.
1640 Temps out of whack??
