    1640 XPS can't handle 1080P?

    so ive got a 1640xps, and it cant handle 1080p for .. im trying to watch Life E01 BluRay BBC 1080p x264 H@M i get nothing but lags/freezes this shouldnt be happening.. im using VLC to play it. nothing else is open when i play it, i have laptop set to high performance and its plugged in. all drivers are newest to my knowledge.

    hmm why would this work but vlc wouldnt?

    Because VLC is a highly unoptimized program. Definitely stick with MPC or PowerDVD. By default, VLC also has all hardware acceleration disabled; did you try enabling it and tweaking the settings?
