Okay. I have let this one go as I figured by now Dell would have come up with a fix for such a ridiculous issue. No luck.
Issue-When I eject a dvd the slot drive projects the disc with such velocity that it goes about 1 foot, bounces of my wall and sends said disc to the floor. Does anyone have a fix for this? It's so stupid!
Also Since bios A07 and beyond my dvd touch buttons do not work. I have seen this well documented in the Dell forums but no fix other than returning to A06 (which I will not due as this Bios update fixed my sleep issues with Win 7 RC 7100 64bit) so perhaps this is a Win 7 issue but I figured no harm asking you fine people.
TIA,
J23

video of this would be awsome!

Haha I'd like to see this too. Maybe he could use it as a projectile weapon. -
Warning: CD tray can cause serious injury. Ensure protective eye wear is used appropriately.

go call dell, and in the mean time keep a pillow taped to the wall and pillows or blankets on the floor lol
and if you have time, i also want to see a vid -
Okay. I knew this would happen if no one else was having this issue. I am trying to think of how to video it as my only cameras are on my laptop or PS3 eye (which will not reach). If I do manage this I want some prop points dammit
BTW-I have already thought of trying to increase the charge somehow and engage in some skeet/disc shooting. PULL! -
if you do that.... i'll rep ya just for the video.

Well...you will be my hero of the day
Maybe ask a friend for a camera?
Seems like a nice evening with flying discs -
Take a video and put it on youtube.
Aside from entertaining us, you'd be giving Dell some motivation to fix the issue by making it public -
BTW-This is my first you tube vid so I am counting on you all to give me some love out there. I am no lonely girl ...but hey I am real. What ever that is worth these days.

Got your fans here

You guys are the best. Really. Preparing speech.
BTW-As a lot of you probably know youtube's processing time is soul numbing long. Entering 3rd hour for a 40 sec clip. Yeesh. -
I am ecstatic.

Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
A notebook howitzer..SXPS 16 version..that would be awesome!
BTW, have you contacted Dell with this? -
Just an update folks. It is 1:08 am & the video is still processing. I have looked @ the normal conversion times for youtube and this is standard,as most if not all of you know.
As for the thought recommending I contact Dell, I most certainly will (now that I know this is not a problem shared by any other 1640 users) but not until I get my 15 minutes of viral fame.
I deserve that for all the discs I've buggered.
Processing...

Sharpen up the edges of the disk and then use it to slice vegetables

Hi all. So first off I wanted to note that I am posting here because for whatever reason I can not get into any of the sub section threads. I presume you have been having the same problem. So I'll post here.
2. As I said in my initial post the eject does different things @ different times. What I got on video is about 5.5 out of 10 as to the propulsion and velocity. I also apologize for the grainy quality. All I could find was an old logitech laptop webcam I used to use with my inspiron.
In closing if there is a way to put a link directly in the forums please tell me how.
For now search "Dell DBD Drive Exposed!" on youtube. Enjoy. I will make a better quality one that also has the warp speed tonight. For now I bid you farewell.
