Newbie question: My Turbo Boost blue bar never gets to the very top since day 1. Does it mean that the apps I'm using aren't 'demanding' enough? Or is there something that's preventing the machine to fully utilise the cpu?

My i7 620 will only hit 3.33 GHz when using one core turbo, and it can reach 3.19 GHz max for two core turbo.
Hope this helps! -
Yea, it's exactly as kezuk12 said. For instance my blue bar only ever hits the top during a certain task, which is when I open a game like BF:BC2 on my system. Otherwise it rarely ever maxes a single core and turbo boosts it (fills the blue bar), as other cores usually factor into the equation. You can try Superpi to see if you can max the blue bar, or maybe just try opening a game and seeing if it maxes it.

mine will never stay at the top. It will only stay there for a brief second. I think its just marketing because it CAN reach 2.8ghz but it wont stay there very long.

As already mentioned, it will only go to the top if you need it and it usually doesn't stay there for long. The only time I've noticed mine go to the top is when i'm unzipping certain files or runing a virus scan (using Microsoft Security Essentials). I think the virus scan demonstrates the usage well for me. When running the scan, it usally sticks at one level down from the top, and hits the top every few seconds.
